Digital Powhiri

We are excited to share that we have connected with our Tuhi mai, Tuhi atu class from Tamaki Primary, both in writing via comments on blogs and in a very special way. Through coordination and collaboration we have been able to connect via a Digital Powhiri using Google Hangouts. This was a unique and creative way of coming together in an authentic way. We have a little bit of video of us practising a waiata and some photos below that.

What an amazing experience, learning opportunity and application of Tikanga in a digital space that would not have been possible otherwise.

Matua Herman was able to pop past Room 5 while visiting Auckland at the end of Term 2. We are all looking forward to continuing to collaborate and connect with each other.

  1. Ka mau te wehi Te Whare Waipaoa, thank you for sharing. I can see from the video and images above that you worked hard to prepare for sharing your Digital Powhiri. I am sure that this will inspire other Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu teams to explore how they can use Google Hangouts to connect too.

    ngā mihi nui,
    Mrs Grant
